AKLI vs MarketMan for restaurant food cost and inventory

MarketMan's help center prices location stock and recipes from the latest purchase, with a blended average in some reports. AKLI costs recipes at weighted average cost. AKLI is one plan at SAR 299 / QAR 290 / AED 293 / BHD 30 / OMR 31 per branch per month, excluding VAT, with AI included. MarketMan puts Smart Ordering on Growth and above. AKLI is not a POS.

AKLI is AI restaurant management software for food cost, inventory, recipe costing, purchasing, waste and a live P&L by branch and for the whole group. MarketMan calls itself a "cloud-based inventory management and purchasing solution" covering inventory, budgeting, reporting, supplier management and food costing. The notes are for ops and finance leads in the Gulf Cooperation Council who are comparing those published facts. The comparison starts with how each product costs a recipe, then plans and prices. It is not a ranking.

Latest purchase price versus weighted average cost

This is the costing difference, and it is a difference of which price each page says it uses. MarketMan's help center defines local price as the most recent purchase price for that item. Local price values the count. It also costs recipes and menu profitability at the location.

Main price is the saved main purchase option. The help center uses that saved price for recipe cost at HQ. The location book and the head-office book can therefore show two prices for the same item: the latest purchase at the branch, and the saved main price at HQ.

Two reports move off that single price. The actual-versus-theoretical report uses a blended average rather than the single main price. The COGS report values purchases at the average price. A finance lead can keep the three figures apart: local price for the location count and the location recipe, main price for the HQ recipe, and a blended average on the actual-versus-theoretical report. MarketMan's pages describe latest purchase, saved main price, and a blended average, depending on which report is open. They are the definitions on the help center.

AKLI costs recipes at weighted average cost. The average moves when a delivery is received at a new price, and the recipes that use the item move with it. AKLI does not cost recipes at FIFO or FEFO. The method page is the one linked above. The public COGS identity, opening inventory plus purchases minus closing inventory, is the restaurant COGS formula.

AI by plan

MarketMan publishes AI on named plans, and the plan is part of the fact. Starter includes real-time recipe costing, actual versus theoretical reporting, waste management, one vendor EDI integration, and 50 AI invoice scans a month. Those 50 scans are AI invoice scanning on the entry plan. Growth adds Smart Ordering, described on the pricing page as AI-powered suggestions on what to order each week, plus order by recipe, AI recipe suggestions, a second EDI integration, and unlimited invoice scanning. A commissary page calls Smart Ordering predictive analytics that forecast demand.

Enterprise adds email invoice scanning, advanced reports, unlimited EDI, and a read-only API at 5,000 calls a month. The AI recipe page adds substitution ideas, mapping a purchased item to a recipe component, and a flag when a price change makes a recipe unprofitable.

AKLI documents a different set, and it is included in the one plan rather than starting at Growth. Ask AKLI answers in plain language from that kitchen's recipes, stock, invoices and sales. Features describe trend identification and anomaly detection. When a received price moves, recipe cost is recalculated at weighted average cost. AKLI does not place orders on its own. Outputs can be wrong, so a person reviews them. There are no tiers and no add-ons on the pricing page: SAR 299 / QAR 290 / AED 293 / BHD 30 / OMR 31 per branch per month, excluding VAT. Smart Ordering remains MarketMan's weekly AI suggestions, on Growth and above.

COGS, counts and transfers

MarketMan's help center writes the COGS and gross profit report as opening inventory plus purchases plus transfers minus closing inventory. Between two counts, that result is actual COGS. With no count, the report is estimated COGS from purchases versus sales, and the help center says the report is currently live for specific POS partners. Purchases on the report are valued at the average price.

Count guidance on the same help center: count inventory at least once a month, count the most expensive or most important items weekly, and take a full count at month end. Transfers: sending and receiving locations both update automatically. The commissary module tracks production batches, quantities and receiving, and it is priced separately from the plan. Those prices are in the next section.

AKLI's public formula is on the restaurant COGS formula page: opening inventory plus purchases minus closing inventory. The live P&L is by branch and for the whole group (multi-branch groups). Batch recipes are on central production. Actual food cost on the formula page still needs an opening count and a closing count.

POS, files, and the connector

On 27 Sep 2026, Foodics was not listed on MarketMan's partners page. MarketMan also says it does not charge an extra fee to integrate with an accounting or POS platform. Vendor EDI is listed as US, CA, and UK.

AKLI is not a point-of-sale system and not a general ledger. Sales can come from CSV or Excel, and a till change is not required (integrations). Foodics, Oracle Simphony, Marn, and Sapaad are POS systems AKLI connects to, through AKLI's POS connector. Export for the accountant remains CSV or Excel.

Published prices

MarketMan's monthly list is Starter at $249, Growth at $299, and Enterprise from $449. The pricing page does not say those figures are per location. Smart Ordering and AI recipe optimization and suggestions start on Growth. Starter still includes 50 AI invoice scans a month. The API add-on is $25, $59, $99, or $199 a month for 1 to 3 locations, 4 to 9, 10 to 30, and 31 or more. Commissary is $499 a month standalone and $749 a month external.

AKLI is SAR 299 / QAR 290 / AED 293 / BHD 30 / OMR 31 per branch per month, excluding VAT, on one plan with no tiers and no add-ons (pricing). Growth's published figure is $299 a month. AKLI's published figure is SAR 299 / QAR 290 / AED 293 / BHD 30 / OMR 31 per branch per month, excluding VAT. One number is dollars, and MarketMan does not say that figure is per location. The other is riyals per branch, excluding VAT. The units are different.

Shared topics

Actual versus theoretical reporting is on every MarketMan plan, and the report uses a blended average price. AKLI explains the same comparison at theoretical versus actual food cost and on waste and variance. Both publish the comparison.

On multi-branch work, MarketMan describes HQ control of inventory, purchasing, suppliers, prices and a central recipe library. AKLI has multi-branch inventory and a live P&L by branch and for the whole group (multi-branch groups). It is not a statement per brand.

Digital HACCP logs are in AKLI. They are timestamped and can be exported for inspection. The logs do not by themselves make a kitchen compliant (digital HACCP). The product interface is in English, French and Arabic.

A tool that counts stock and stops there is a different comparison: AKLI vs count-only tools. MarketMan publishes recipe costing, actual versus theoretical reporting and purchasing, so it sits outside that category. A separate page compares published facts for Supy.
